A collection of vintage enamel and metal lapel badges and pins, predominantly of British origin. The group includes various school-related identifiers such as shield-shaped enamel badges inscribed PREFECT in maroon and blue, a long bar badge also inscribed PREFECT, a yellow shield badge partially inscribed HEAD BOY, and a yellow bar badge for STANDARD. Organisational badges include a circular example for THE BRITISH RED CROSS SOCIETY featuring a red cross on a white ground. Other designs include a shield with a stag’s head, an initialled shield with the letter A, and various geometric and figurative designs, including one marked MINERALS. Each item is individually housed in a clear plastic sleeve marked with a numerical identifier. The numbers included are 18, 19, 33, 35, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 49, 53, 55, 57, 58, 59, 60, 61, 64, and 89. The badges are constructed from base metals, including brass and chrome-plated alloys, with hard and soft enamel detailing.
Condition report:
The collection is in generally good vintage condition. There is typical age-related wear, surface scratching, and patination visible on the metal reverses. The enamel on the visible faces remains largely intact across the group, showing only minor surface wear consistent with age and previous use.
