A late 19th or early 20th-century decorative miniature presented in a red leather-covered triptych folding case with an easel stand to the reverse. The central panel houses an oval porcelain plaque featuring a pastoral scene in the Rococo style, depicting a couple in 18th-century attire. The case is finished with a gilt-tooled border and a decorative brass fleur-de-lis clasp. The interior side flaps are lined with cream silk, both bearing the printed retailer mark: BY APPOINTMENT beneath a royal crest, followed by MAPPIN & WEBB LTD and SHEFFIELD & LONDON.
Condition report:
The red leather exterior exhibits scuffing and surface wear, particularly to the edges and the easel stand. The brass clasp shows signs of tarnishing. The interior silk lining and the porcelain plaque appear well-preserved with no visible chips or cracks.
