This lot comprises two large glass vessels filled with an extensive collection of toy glass marbles. The first vessel is a clear glass storage jar of rounded form featuring a single loop handle near the neck. The second vessel is an oversized 4.5-litre bar display bottle for Grant’s Finest Scotch Whisky. The original paper label on this bottle identifies the producer as William Grant and Sons Ltd, based in Banffshire, Scotland, and includes the establishment date of 1887. Both containers are nearly filled with several hundred glass marbles of various sizes and designs. Visible styles within the collection include multi-vane cat’s eyes in assorted colours, transparent glass with single-colour swirls, solid opaque colours, and transparent clearies. These represent a wide variety of mass-produced marble styles predominantly from the mid-to-late 20th century.
Condition report:
Both glass containers appear structurally sound without visible cracks or major chips. The paper label on the Grant\'s whisky bottle shows some age-related wear, including surface abrasions and minor discolouration. The marbles are in mixed condition, ranging from well-preserved to play-worn with some surface scuffing and minor impact marks consistent with age and use.
