A collection of four decorative hand-carved hardwood masks, characteristic of mid-to-late 20th-century West African craft. The group includes one mask with a uniform polished reddish-brown finish, featuring a pair of small human figures carved in relief to the forehead, heavy brows, and a wide-open mouth. The three remaining masks exhibit a two-tone ebonised and natural reddish-brown finish, adorned with incised geometric and pointillist patterns. These masks show elongated facial forms with almond-shaped eye apertures and various crest motifs. All examples are designed with flat reverse surfaces intended for wall mounting.
Condition report:
Generally good condition with minor surface scuffs and wear consistent with age. There is a notable accumulation of dust and cobwebs to the surfaces.
