Two mid-20th century travel suitcases of rectangular form. The first example features a brown textured exterior with reinforced metal corner protectors, two metal latches, and a central carry handle. The lid bears the hand-painted initials M.K. in blue pigment. The interior is finished with a plain salmon-pink lining. The second suitcase features two keyhole latches and a leather handle, with the interior lined in a decorative geometric checkered pattern and fitted with an internal leather securing strap. These items are characteristic of 1950s utility and travel luggage.
Condition report:
Both items exhibit signs of age and significant utilitarian use. The exteriors show scuffing, abrasions, and scratches throughout. Metal hardware displays oxidation, surface pitting, and wear to the plating. Interior linings show staining, discolouration, foxing, and some lifting to the adhesive at the edges. The leather handle of the second case shows surface cracking consistent with age.
