This mid-century modern sunburst wall clock was manufactured by Paico, a brand of the British firm Peter J. Arnold and Co. The piece features a central circular brass-toned frame surrounding a cream-coloured dial. The dial is set with applied gold-toned Arabic numerals at the twelve, three, six, and nine positions, while the remaining hours are marked by baton indices. It is equipped with tapering gold-toned hour and minute hands protected by a domed crystal. Radiating from the centre are twelve primary rays made of textured metal with a hammered gold-tone finish and twelve shorter secondary rays crafted from dark-stained wood, possibly teak or walnut. The dial is signed Paico above the centre and features partially legible text below the six o’clock position likely referring to the place of manufacture. The clock is presumed to contain a mechanical movement typical of the manufacturer and period.
Condition report:
The clock exhibits signs of age-related wear, including surface oxidation and a layer of dust on the textured metal rays. The wooden components appear to be in good structural condition. The movement is untested and the working order is unknown.
