Buyer's Premium:

This lot consists of an assortment of historical ephemera and a commemorative tin. The collection features a 19th-century engraved topographical street map titled Plymouth, Devonport and Stonehouse (with the Recent Improvements). Published by W. Wood of Fore Street, Devonport, the map illustrates the Three Towns area including The Sound, Mill Bay, and The Hoe, and includes a keyed reference list to major landmarks and a municipal divisions table. Accompanying the map is a vintage hand-tinted postcard depicting a portrait of a Japanese woman in a traditional kimono and an embossed Victorian-style chromolithograph scrap featuring a decorated Christmas tree. The lot also contains a lithographed metal souvenir tin produced for the 1953 Coronation of HM Queen Elizabeth II. The lid features a central oval portrait of the young Queen on a light green field, flanked by the royal cypher E II R surmounted by crowns. The side of the tin is inscribed Coronation Souvenir 1953 in gold-tone cursive script within a decorative foliate border.

Condition report:

The map displays significant foxing and multiple circular moisture stains across the surface; it is mounted on a blue card backing. The postcard shows minor surface wear and edge damage. The coronation tin exhibits visible surface wear, scratching, and oxidation consistent with age, with notable paint loss and rubbing to the lithographed finish on the raised edges and corners.
