A dark-stained oak hall or telephone table, featuring an integrated letter or magazine rack to the rear. The piece is designed in the Jacobean Revival style, dating from the early to mid-20th century. Constructed from solid oak with a dark finish, it features a rectangular top with rounded edges. To the rear is a high gallery divided into multiple compartments suitable for letters or magazines. The frieze contains two short drawers, each decorated with carved lunette motifs and fitted with small metal ring-pull handles. One side of the apron is detailed with vertical fluting. The table is supported by four turned baluster legs joined by a shaped lower shelf and terminating in square block feet.
Condition report:
The table shows significant signs of age and regular use. A prominent horizontal split is visible on the right-hand side of the main tabletop. The dark-stained finish displays various scuffs, scratches, and areas of wear or finish loss, particularly along the edges and the top surface. Faint circular water marks or heat rings are present on the tabletop.
