A cased collection of precision drafting and engineering instruments, housed in a hardwood box. Included in the lot is a blue velvet-lined case holding several drawing tools, including a large ruling pen with a turned wooden handle, a pair of compasses with a side-screw adjustment mechanism, a pair of dividers, and two smaller ruling pens. The largest instrument is stamped with the text MADE IN ENGLAND and includes a patent number which is not clearly legible. The box contains an assortment of heavy-duty steel and iron components. This collection includes several U-shaped brackets or frames, rectangular milled blocks, and cylindrical metal pieces, likely accessories for specialised machinery or a small-scale lathe. The hardwood box features a mahogany finish, brass hinges, and a decorative diamond-shaped inlay on the lid.
Condition report:
The set shows significant signs of age and use. Several instruments and many of the components in the lower compartment exhibit surface oxidation and rust. The blue velvet lining is dusty and worn. The case appears to be incomplete, with vacant slots suggesting missing items. The wooden box has surface wear and remnants of a paper label on the interior of the lid.
