This lot comprises a collection of religious devotional items and ephemera, primarily of Western European Catholic origin, dating from the twentieth century. The assembly includes a painted wooden icon of Saint Francis of Assisi, depicted with the stigmata and inscribed ASSISI at the base. A small wooden hinged diptych icon features Christ Pantocrator and the Mother of God, marked with the Greek abbreviations IC XC and MP ΘY. A circular silver-toned metal pendant with blue enamel decoration depicts Saint Christopher. The group also includes a metal cross featuring a central photographic portrait of a Pope, appearing to be Pius XII, set within a micromosaic-style border. Included is a miniature leather-bound edition of The Imitation of Christ and multiple rosaries consisting of glass and wooden beads. A carved wooden roundel depicts a cathedral facade with a partial inscription ending in ARNE. The collection also contains a paper holy card titled Madonna del Rosario and various other small medals and devotional objects. No maker’s marks or hallmarks are visible.


Condition report:

The items show signs of age and use throughout. Significant tearing, staining, and creasing are present on the paper ephemera. The painted and wooden surfaces show some minor scuffing and wear. Metal components exhibit varying degrees of surface oxidation and tarnishing. The leather binding of the miniature book shows rubbing and shelf wear.
