A George III style mahogany bow-front sideboard, likely dating from the mid-20th century. The piece is constructed with flame mahogany veneers to the drawer and cupboard fronts, featuring boxwood stringing and crossbanded borders to the top surface. The configuration comprises two central graduated drawers with traditional dovetail construction, flanked by two side cupboards. The unit is supported on six square-section tapered legs. It is fitted with circular brass ring pull handles on pressed backplates and includes brass keyhole escutcheons. A small brass-coloured maker’s plate is present on the interior edge of a drawer, though the text is not clearly legible. The lot includes a removable custom-cut glass top and a skeleton key.
Condition report:
The sideboard remains in good structural condition. The top surface is well-preserved under the removable glass protector. Visible wear includes minor scuffs, light surface scratches, and small marks to the legs and lower sections consistent with age and domestic use. The brass hardware is complete.
