Buyer's Premium:

An early 20th-century floor-standing mechanical gramophone cabinet, possibly by Brunswick or Gilbert and Co, constructed from dark-stained wood, likely mahogany. The rectangular cabinet is designed in the Jacobean Revival style and features a hinged lid that opens to reveal a mechanical turntable with a brown felt mat, a metal tone arm, three needle cups, and control plates marked START, STOP, and FAST. The exterior decoration includes a carved floral frieze positioned above two panelled doors fitted with metal drop handles, which open to reveal an internal record storage area with a single horizontal shelf. A metal winding crank is located on the right-hand side of the case. The cabinet is supported by bulbous turned legs joined by a box stretcher.

Condition report:

The cabinet appears structurally sound but shows significant signs of cosmetic wear and age. The top surface displays extensive finish loss, surface scratches, and white markings. The internal metalwork, including the tone arm and needle cups, shows tarnish and accumulated dust. The brown felt mat on the turntable is worn. The internal record storage area shows minor scuffing. The mechanical functionality of the winding mechanism and turntable has not been tested.
