A collection comprising a variety of decorative objects, studio pottery, and vintage household items. The ceramic selection includes a rectangular studio pottery vessel with an iridescent metallic-brown glaze and a relief-moulded circular motif. A large earthenware dairy-style bowl, resembling rustic Italian ceramics, is finished with a yellow glazed interior and an unglazed terracotta exterior. Other ceramic items include a cylindrical cream stoneware storage jar with a brown glazed neck, a bulbous terracotta vessel with a slip-glazed rim, and a traditional brown glazed stoneware jug. A deep ceramic bowl is decorated with horizontal bands of blue and yellow glaze. Glassware is represented by a translucent cobalt blue bowl. Wooden items consist of a Victorian mahogany box with an inlaid escutcheon and a red-lacquered box, likely of Kashmiri origin, featuring hand-painted floral sprays. A vintage leather-cased measuring tape is included, with the central brass winding medallion clearly inscribed for Chesterman, Sheffield, England. The group is completed by a carved wooden decorative set of a banana and leaf-shaped base.
Condition report:
The terracotta vessel shows an uneven and potentially chipped rim. Surface wear and light scratching are visible to the glazed interiors of the bowls. The red-painted Kashmiri box exhibits some minor paint loss and wear concentrated at the edges. The mahogany box displays light surface scuffing and marks consistent with age. General dust and minor surface marks are present throughout the collection.
