This is a one-piece oak display cabinet or bookcase in the Jacobean Revival style, attributed to Wood Brothers. The rectangular unit features a top frieze decorated with two carved panels showing continuous scrolling foliate S-curve motifs. The twin doors are fitted with leaded glass panes in a diamond lattice pattern and open via turned wooden knobs to reveal an interior with two fixed wooden shelves. The exterior is further detailed with decorative cast-metal hinges on the door stiles. The cabinet is constructed from dark-stained oak and stands on a plinth base with a shaped apron and bracket feet.
Condition report:
The cabinet shows signs of age-related wear, including scuffing and surface marks to the dark-stained finish, most notably around the plinth base and lower edges of the frame. There are minor scratches to the wood consistent with domestic use. The leaded glazing appears to be intact and the doors are in working order.
