A collection of polished brass domestic metalware, styled in the late 19th and early 20th-century British tradition. The collection includes a pair of cast brass candlesticks of traditional baluster form, featuring multi-knop stems on stepped rectangular bases. The undersides show construction with modern-style threaded rods and hexagonal nuts. Also included is a tilting spirit kettle on a scrolling brass stand, mounted on an octagonal wooden base. The kettle has an ebonised wooden handle and lid finial, and includes a matching spirit burner. The assembly also features a beverage or punch warmer, with a cylindrical vessel suspended within a tall arched frame, complete with its spirit burner at the base. No maker’s marks are visible on any of the pieces.
Condition report:
The items are in overall good condition with a high-polish finish. There are minor surface scratches and faint signs of use throughout. Both the spirit kettle and beverage warmer retain their original burners. The unpolished undersides of the candlesticks exhibit significant oxidation and verdigris. The wooden base shows minor surface wear.
