Buyer's Premium:

A comprehensive collection of British decorative and functional metalware spanning the late 19th to mid-20th centuries. The silver-plated and white metal items include an Art Deco style three-piece tea service of octagonal faceted form with ebonised handles and finials, comprising a teapot, sugar bowl, and cream jug. Also included is a commemorative mug bearing a handwritten label for the 1951 Festival of Britain and an additional tankard with an inventory label. The brassware section features a group of cast candlesticks in various baluster designs with square, octagonal, and circular bases. There is a collection of traditional English horse brasses featuring motifs such as a bird of prey, a cartwheel, a central S monogram, and a profile of a Dickensian character marked Bumble. Further brass items include a group of wall hooks in the form of sprawling frogs, a pair of square embossed pin dishes, a multifaceted ashtray, a wall-mounted cylindrical spill holder with perforated detailing, and a small hand bell. The lot also contains two hand-hammered copper chargers with scalloped rims and a black-ground dish decorated with hand-painted floral and fruit motifs.

Condition report:

The items are in an as-found condition consistent with age and use. The silver-plated pieces show significant surface tarnish and some areas of plating wear. Brass and copper items exhibit a natural aged patina with areas of oxidation and verdigris. The black-ground decorated dish has visible losses to the lacquer finish and damage to the rim. General surface scratches, minor indentations, and signs of historical polishing are present throughout the collection.
