This lot comprises a diverse group of framed wall art and a carved wooden panel. The collection includes an expressionistic landscape painting executed in gouache or acrylic, depicting a tropical kampong scene with a thatched dwelling and palm trees, signed Teo: S’pore: 77. to the lower left and accompanied by a red square seal mark. This artist is further represented by a matching pair of vertical bird and flower paintings on textured support, both signed Teo: S’pore: 77. with red seals. A dynamic ink and wash painting on paper depicts a rearing black horse, signed Wong Siu Tuck to the lower right with a corresponding red seal. Cartographic interest is represented by a nineteenth-century hand-coloured engraved map of Devonshire, likely by Thomas Moule, featuring a vignette of the Exeter Guildhall and an ornate foliate border. Also included is a realistic watercolour study of two red-sailed fishing vessels at sea and a National Gallery reproduction print of Canaletto’s Venice: A Regatta on the Grand Canal. Completing the lot is a vertical wooden plaque featuring four auspicious Chinese characters 福祿壽囍 (Good Fortune, Prosperity, Longevity, and Double Happiness) carved in relief on a patinated ground. The items are housed in a variety of frames, including contemporary slim silver-toned metal, white-painted wood, and traditional dark wood with mounts.
Condition report:
