A collection of mid-century modern beverage service items manufactured by Burrage and Boyde Ltd of Northampton, England, under the brand name Picquot Ware. The items are die-cast from a polished magnesium-aluminium alloy known as magnalium, featuring distinctive heat-resistant sycamore wood handles. The collection includes a tall coffee pot, a teapot, several jugs of varying forms, two lidded pots, and a rectangular serving tray with an aluminium frame and sycamore wood handles. The vessels are designed with smooth, cast-in-one-piece bodies characteristic of the K-series range. The base of the primary vessel bears an incised circular maker’s mark reading MADE IN ENGLAND with the cursive script Picquot ware.
Condition report:
The collection is in fair to good vintage condition. The metalwork shows surface scratches, minor scuffing, and areas of light pitting consistent with age and domestic use. Significant white oxidation and mineral residue are visible around the base rim of the coffee pot. The sycamore wood handles show light wear, minor thinning of the varnish, and faint staining. The tray laminate surface exhibits light age-related wear and minor surface marks.
