A collection of various souvenir teaspoons housed within a dedicated wall-mounted display cabinet. The cabinet is constructed from wood with a dark mahogany-style finish, featuring a traditional arched pediment and twin glazed doors fitted with brass-toned turn-knob handles. The interior is fitted with several rows of tiered wooden racks. The collection consists of numerous 20th-century travel and commemorative spoons, primarily made from white metal and silver plate. Many spoons feature decorative finials including cloisonne-style enamel work, transfer-printed topographical scenes under clear domes, and cast figural subjects such as knights and heraldic beasts. Notable subjects identified include Harrods, Greenwich, Mary Rose, Cyprus, Malta, Danmark, Jerusalem, and various British civic coats of arms. No manufacturer’s marks are visible on the cabinet or the front of the spoons.
Condition report:
The cabinet is in generally good condition with minor surface scuffs and wear to the finish consistent with use. The glazing is intact and the doors function correctly. The interior racks are sound, although several slots are currently vacant. The spoons exhibit varying degrees of surface tarnish and age-related patina, and would benefit from light cleaning. One spoon in the lower section is currently resting horizontally rather than in its slot.
