A Philips N1500 Video Cassette Recorder, recognised as the first domestic VCR format, originally launched in the early 1970s. This top-loading unit features a silver-toned and black chassis with wood-veneer side panels. The top panel is clearly marked VCR VIDEO CASSETTE RECORDING and N1500, with PHILIPS branding. The control layout includes a series of silver-toned piano-key style transport buttons for EJECT, REWIND, WIND, START, STOP, and REC. The interface also incorporates an integrated 24-hour analogue timer clock, a six-station push-button tuner, a mechanical three-digit tape counter, and a signal level meter. Thumbwheel controls are located on the front edge for tracking and audio adjustments. A manufacturer plate on the side identifies the unit as TYPE N1 500/15, Made in Austria, with technical data including 50 Hz and 110 W. A voltage selector is visible, currently set to 240V.
Condition report:
The unit is presented in an uncleaned, as-found condition with a significant accumulation of dust and surface grime. The wood-veneer side panels show signs of wear and age-related scuffing. There is evidence of sticker residue on the top black panel. The internal mechanical and electronic components have not been tested or inspected, and the item is sold as untested for functionality.
