This lot comprises a collection of vintage woodworking hand tools and a substantial carpenter’s tool chest. The collection features several notable British-manufactured planes. A Stanley No. 5 jack plane is constructed from cast iron and bears the markings MADE IN ENGLAND on the toe and No. 5 on the heel, with a wooden front knob and rear tote handle. The lever cap is marked STANLEY with red infill. A Record No. 042 precision cast-steel shoulder plane is present, marked with RECORD No 042 on the side of the body. Also included is a Record No. 778 rebate and fillister plane, which is accompanied by an original paper instruction manual and housed within a wooden box. This plane features a reddish-brown composite handle and appears to retain its fence and guide rods. A small, blue-painted block plane with a chrome-plated lever cap is also part of the group. The carpenter’s tool chest is a large, rectangular wooden case with a black-painted exterior and a metal carrying handle. The interior is divided and contains an assortment of secondary tools including a steel back saw with a wooden handle, a traditional hand brace for drilling, various bevel-edge and firmer chisels, and assorted blades and hardware.

Condition report:
The collection is in as found workshop condition. The Stanley No. 5 and Record No. 042 planes show significant surface oxidation and accumulated dust, requiring professional restoration to return to working order. The Record No. 778 appears to be better preserved than the other metal planes in the lot. The wooden tool chest exhibits heavy external wear, including scuffs, paint loss, and rusted metal hardware. The internal contents are unsorted and show varying degrees of surface rust and wear consistent with long-term storage and workshop use.
