A mid-century Singer Model 185K portable electric sewing machine, finished in a characteristic two-tone tan and brown colourway. The machine is mounted upon a wooden base and is housed within its original brown textured carrying case featuring a cream-coloured plastic handle. The arm of the machine is marked THE SINGER MANUFACTURING CO. and MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN. An attached electric motor bears a silver-tone identification plate transcribed as SINGER SEWING MOTOR, 230-250 VOLTS, 75 WATTS, CAT. NO. BAK. 13-12, 25-75 CYC. AC & DC, and MADE IN GT. BRITAIN with serial number ML082797. This lot includes the original foot controller with a brown power lead and the printed instruction manual titled Instructions for using SINGER Sewing Machine 185K.
Condition report:
The sewing machine and case appear in good vintage condition. The carrying case shows minor age-related scuffs and marks to the exterior. The machine body exhibits light surface wear consistent with age and use. The electrical components have not been tested for functionality.
