A group of British medals comprising a First World War and long service group and a cased civil service long service award. The first group is awarded to 286147 Stoker Petty Officer H. J. Derrick, Royal Navy, and includes: a 1914-15 Star officially impressed 286147, H. J. DERRICK, S.P.O., R.N.; a World War I Victory Medal (1914-1919) featuring the winged figure of Victory; and a Royal Navy Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, George V type, officially impressed H. J. DERRICK, S.P.O. H.M.S. LION. The reverse of the Long Service medal features the depiction of H.M.S. Victory. H.M.S. Lion was the battlecruiser flagship of Admiral David Beatty during major First World War naval engagements including the Battle of Heligoland Bight, the Battle of Dogger Bank, and the Battle of Jutland. The second award is an Imperial Service Medal, Elizabeth II type, officially impressed to the rim HENRY ALBERT McLEOD. The obverse features the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II with the legend ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA REGINA F.D., and the reverse depicts a male figure resting from labour with the inscription FOR FAITHFUL SERVICE. This medal is complete with its original red and blue ribbon with pin-back suspension and is housed in its original black leatherette presentation case bearing the Royal Arms on the inner silk lid.
Condition report:
The three naval medals are missing their silk ribbons and exhibit age-related toning and minor surface wear. The Imperial Service Medal is in excellent condition and remains on its original ribbon; the accompanying presentation case shows light external shelf wear.
