2 large, circular copper and brass preserving pans of heavy-gauge construction, also suitable for use as a rondeau. The vessel features a wrought body with evidence of hand-hammering to the interior base and a thickened, finished rim. Two cast copper-alloy D-style loop handles are securely fastened to the body with three large copper rivets on each side. An incised uppercase letter W is present on the exterior side wall. The interior is currently untinned. This item is characteristic of high-quality professional or large-scale domestic cookware from the mid-to-late 19th century, possibly of English or French origin.
Condition report:
The pan is in a well-used condition with a warm, aged patina. The exterior shows various surface scratches, water spots, and small indentations consistent with age and heavy domestic use. A small notch is visible on the top rim. The interior exhibits significant darkening, surface scratching, and areas of green verdigris oxidation, particularly around the rivet heads and the bottom edge. The handles remain firmly attached and the structure is sound.
