Start price: £20

Buyer's Premium:

A collection of framed prints comprising two pairs of monochrome photogravures and a colour lithographic panoramic map. The first pair, titled Shakespeare’s Heroines – Beatrice and Shakespeare’s Heroines – Juliet, depicts female figures in elaborate Renaissance style attire with architectural and floral backgrounds. The second pair consists of maritime scenes titled The Lighthouse Tower and Mount St. Michael, depicting dramatic coastal landscapes under moonlit skies with crashing waves and sailing vessels. The final item is a colour lithographic map titled Golfe de Salonique, providing a panoramic view of Thessaloniki, Greece. This map includes various landmarks labeled in French, such as Eglise Ste Sophie, Eglise St George, and Route de Seres. The monochrome sets are presented in dark wood frames with wide mounts, while the map is set in an ornate moulded gilt-effect frame.

Condition report:

The collection shows significant signs of age. There is pronounced foxing and age-toning across all mounts. The map shows visible discoloration and spotting to the paper itself. The frames exhibit minor surface scuffs and wear consistent with age, with small chips and loss to the gilding of the map frame. Dust and debris are present under the glass of several items.
