A contemporary ceramic wall plaque by Benaya Art Ceramics featuring a group of seven koi carp swimming against a black ground. The fish are rendered in vibrant glazes of red, orange, yellow, and grey with detailed scales and fins. The design is executed using a tube-lining technique, which creates raised outlines to separate the different coloured glazes, resulting in a three-dimensional effect. Stylised aquatic foliage is depicted in the corners. The plaque is finished with a high-gloss glaze throughout. The lower right corner bears the BT monogram. The piece is mounted on a board with a black velvet-covered reverse and is fitted with a metal D-ring hanger for wall mounting.
Condition report:
The plaque is in excellent condition with no visible chips, cracks, or crazing to the glaze. The velvet backing and mounting hardware are secure and intact.
