This collection consists of watercolours on paper depicting various European architectural subjects and landscapes. One work depicts a waterfront view of the Polish city of Gdańsk, showing the historic Great Crane and traditional gabled houses; it is inscribed GDAŃSK to the lower left and signed B.KOWNACKA 93 to the lower right. Another work shows an impressionistic town square with multiple figures and a prominent clock tower, featuring a stylized, indistinct signature to the lower left. A third painting depicts a traditional wooden church situated by a body of water with a rowing boat in the foreground. The final piece shows an ornate, multi-domed Baroque building, possibly an Orthodox cathedral, with a handwritten inscription and signature in the lower margin. Each work is presented behind glass with a card mount and housed in various frames, including gilt-effect, dark wood, and black-painted finishes.
Condition report:
The watercolours appear to be in good overall condition with well-preserved colours and no visible signs of foxing, staining, or significant light damage. The paper remains flat within the mounts. The works have not been examined out of their frames. The frames and glazing show minor surface wear and dust consistent with age and display.
