A set of graduated rectangular nesting trays in the Foochow style, likely dating to the mid-20th century. Each tray is constructed from a lightweight base material, such as wood or papier-mâché, and finished with a polished black lacquer. The trays are decorated with hand-painted dragon motifs in gold and yellow with red and green accents. The dragons are depicted among stylized clouds, with some trays featuring the traditional flaming pearl of wisdom. The compositions vary slightly between the trays in the set. No maker’s marks are visible.
