This collection consists of three Royal Crown Derby porcelain animal paperweights, each decorated in the company’s signature Imari palette of cobalt blue, iron red, and 22 carat gold gilding. The pieces are manufactured from English bone china.
The first figure is a seated red squirrel, featuring intricate scrolling and floral patterns across the body. The underside bears the red printed Royal Crown Derby backstamp with the date code LXII, indicating a manufacture date of 1999. It also features hand-painted decorator marks, including a purple letter C and gold initials CG.
The second figure is a tortoise, with its shell divided into hexagonal panels containing stylised floral and geometric motifs. The base displays the red factory backstamp with the date code LII for 1989, along with small hand-painted marks in red and brown.
The third figure is a frog perched upon a circular lily pad base. The frog is decorated with leaf-shaped patterns, while the cobalt blue base features gold foliate designs. The underside carries the red printed factory mark with the date code LVI for 1993 and a small four-dot pattern.
Each paperweight retains its original gold-coloured metal stopper embossed with the Royal Crown Derby crown and logo, which is indicative of first quality production.
Condition report:
All three paperweights are in excellent condition. There are no visible chips, cracks, crazing, or signs of restoration. The gilding remains bright and intact across all three pieces.
