This lot consists of two vintage Stanley Bailey pattern hand planes produced by Stanley Works (G.B.) Ltd. in Sheffield, England. The collection includes a No. 5 jack plane for initial wood truing and a No. 4 smoothing plane for finishing work. Both tools feature cast iron bodies with a black japanned finish, steel cutters, and lacquered hardwood handles. The base of the No. 5 plane is cast with Bailey at the toe and Made in England at the heel, while the No. 4 plane is cast with Bailey No 4 and Made in England. The lever caps for both planes retain their original red Stanley brand stickers, and the cutters are stamped Stanley Made in England. Both tools are housed in their original orange cardboard boxes with green end labels detailing the maker, model number, and dimensions. An original paper instruction booklet titled Hints on using a STANLEY PLANE is included.
No. 5 Plane length: 14 inches
No. 4 Plane length: 9 inches

Condition report:
Both planes are in good, used vintage condition. The cast iron soles and sides show light surface oxidation and typical workshop dust consistent with age and use. The hardwood handles are intact with minor wear to the lacquer finish. The original cardboard boxes show significant age-related wear, including scuffing, edge fraying, and minor corner tears. The instruction booklet is heavily foxed and stained but remains legible.
