A Regency mahogany card table featuring a rectangular top with chamfered corners. The surface is decorated with figured mahogany veneers, cross-banded borders, and ebony stringing. The swivel and fold-over mechanism allows the top to rotate and open, revealing a green baize-lined playing surface and an internal storage well. The tabletop is supported by a turned and gadrooned central pedestal which rests upon a quadruped base. The four splayed legs are detailed with reeded carving and terminate in brass box castors.
Condition report:
The item is in used antique condition and requires restoration. The top surface exhibits significant water staining, clouding to the polish, and various surface scratches and scuffs. There are minor veneer losses and chips visible along the edges and corners of the top and apron. The green baize lining is intact but displays a central fold and light wear. General surface wear, small scuffs, and minor indentations are present on the pedestal and legs. The brass castors show expected tarnishing. The mechanical swivel and hinge components are in functional order.
