Estimated price: £5 - £10

Buyer's Premium:

An antique wooden sewing machine case and base, likely dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. The case is constructed with figured wood veneer in a rounded rectangular bentwood form. A decorative geometric marquetry border is inlaid to the top panel, which is fitted with a central turned wooden handle mounted on metal brackets. The case is currently locked with no key, but contains a sewing machine inside. The design and construction are characteristic of the portable cases produced by the Singer Manufacturing Company during this period.

Condition report:

The item shows visible surface wear consistent with age and use, including scratches, scuffs, and areas of staining to the top panel. Minor losses to the finish are present throughout. The case is currently locked and lacks the key; consequently, the internal sewing machine has not been inspected for completeness, condition, or mechanical functionality.
