This lot comprises a collection of vintage domestic metalware and fireplace accessories. Included is a rectangular wooden log box clad in brass, featuring a repoussé decoration of a three-masted sailing ship to the front panel and a hinged lid. Positioned atop the box is a pair of fireplace bellows with brass studding. The group includes a fireplace fender in hammered metal with a darkened patina and dimpled texture. Two glazed stoneware foot warmers are present, both of cylindrical form with screw-top stoppers; one bears a partial, illegible oval maker’s stamp near the base. Brassware includes a pair of baluster-form candlesticks, a pair of shorter candlesticks with ornate square bases, and a handbell with a turned handle. Further items consist of a small square iron lantern with a rusted finish, a traditional-style metal watering can, a miniature oil lamp with a white glass shade, and several decorative textile straps featuring floral embroidery and small bells.
Condition report:
Items are in varied, used condition consistent with age and domestic use. Notable oxidation and surface rust are present on the iron lantern. The brass and copper surfaces show significant tarnishing and patina throughout. The leather components of the bellows exhibit general wear and age-related deterioration. The stoneware bottles appear to be free of significant cracks, though surface marks and one temporary inventory sticker are present. General scuffs, scratches, and minor indentations are visible across the metalware collection.
