This lot comprises a variety of photographic and artistic works from the early to mid-20th century. The collection includes a framed maritime print of the Union-Castle Liner Kenilworth Castle and a framed local interest photograph depicting The London Central Meat Co. Ltd storefront with staff, featuring branch locations for Bideford and Barnstaple and a handwritten inscription reading W.R. Miller. Military-themed photography includes a framed group portrait of a World War I-era British soldier with family and a framed portrait of a uniformed officer. A large, unframed pastel drawing of a sleeping nurse is also included, along with a framed photograph of a lighthouse. Supporting items consist of a vintage blue cord-bound photograph album, several rolls of paper or documents in protective brown wrapping, and two fabric poppy pins. The items are primarily housed in period dark-stained wooden frames with gilt-finished slips.
Condition report:
The photographs show age-related wear, including fading, yellowing, and silver mirroring to the edges of the silver gelatin prints. Foxing is visible on several of the cardboard mounts. The wooden frames exhibit surface scuffs, scratches, and minor losses to the finish. The unframed pastel drawing has some edge wear and light creasing. Rolled documents may have permanent curling. Auction lot stickers are present on the glass of two frames.
