Buyer's Premium:

A collection of memorabilia and ephemera related to the International Friendship League (IFL), an organisation founded in 1931 by Noel Ede. The assortment primarily relates to mid-20th century activities, with specific items dated to 1961 and 1975.

The collection features various enamel lapel pins, including multiple examples displaying the IFL logo of letters positioned over a globe, with several examples remaining on original card backings. Other pins include an Our Chalet international Girl Guides centre pin, a St George’s Cross pin, a 1975 Forward in Faith cross pin, and a shield-shaped enamel pin with a white cross on a red field. A large cast-metal commemorative medallion dated 1975 is included, featuring the inscription Internationale Carnavalsver. Van De International Friendship League.

Textile and glass items consist of several white cotton triangular pennants with green printed IFL logos and a square glass dish featuring the organisation name and emblem.

The paper ephemera includes hand-drawn and printed materials for a June 1961 Goodwill Tour, featuring a map of Holland, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. The lot contains typed and handwritten documents, including a poem titled One World by Audrey Miller. Fundraising and informational sheets mention the Noel Ede Fund, the Flying Dr Service of Nigeria, and the Peacehaven I.F.L. Centre in London. The collection is housed in a black lacquered wooden storage box with a pink velvet-lined interior.

Condition report:

The paper ephemera shows significant age-related wear, including heavy foxing, edge tearing, and staining likely caused by rusted staples. The enamel pins and metal medallion are in generally good condition with minor surface wear and natural aged patina. The glass dish appears intact with no visible chips or cracks. The wooden storage box exhibits external scuffing and wear consistent with age and use.
