A collection of vintage black and white silver gelatin prints and a chromogenic (C-print) photograph documenting the HMS Ark Royal (R07) during the WESTLANT 90 deployment in 1990. Two photographs depict the vessel moored in New York Harbour against the Manhattan skyline, including prominent landmarks such as 70 Pine Street. One photograph captures a Harrier jump jet from a perspective inside the ship’s hangar deck looking out towards the flight deck. The single colour photograph shows a formal ceremonial event with a figure in Lord Mayoral robes and ceremonial regalia addressing a line of naval officers. These photographs are glossy, unmounted, and appear to be part of a larger service album documenting the deployment.
Condition report:
The prints are in generally good condition with some signs of age and handling. There is a prominent diagonal handling crease or surface mark visible to the upper left of the hangar interior photograph. Light surface scuffing, minor curling, and slight edge wear are present across the group, consistent with being stored in a ring-bound album.
