This collection comprises several items of traditional British domestic metalware. The group includes a copper bed warming pan featuring a polished brass lid embossed with a peacock design and a long, turned wooden handle. There are two leather martingales, each mounted with four cast brass horse brasses. One brass is commemorative, inscribed Coronation of King George VI & Queen Elizabeth 1937 with profile portraits of the monarchs. Other motifs include horseshoes, equine heads, and a rampant lion. The lot includes two copper kettles: one with embossed floral scrollwork and a black wooden handle, the other with a hammered texture and a wicker-wrapped handle. A brass toasting fork is present, featuring a twisted stem and a handle in the form of a classical mask. A long-handled fire poker with a turned wooden handle is also included. Further items comprise a clear glass claret jug or decanter within a brass frame, a cast metal dragon-like figure, and a small copper vessel with brass accents.
Condition report:
The collection is in varying states of condition consistent with age and domestic use. Metal components show significant patination, tarnishing, and areas of verdigris, especially around the kettle spouts and hinges. The leather straps show age-related cracking and wear but remain intact. Wooden handles exhibit light surface abrasions. The glass vessel shows no visible cracks or significant chips.
