A varied collection of metalware, pewter, and decorative objects. The group includes a Dutch pewter double-handled ecuelle or porringer by Meeuws and Zoon, featuring handles decorated with relief dolphins and fish motifs, with the base bearing the ETAIN mark and a circular monogrammed mark. A Scottish pewter quaich is present, stamped for The Quaich Co. (Scotland) Ltd, with handles featuring Celtic knotwork. The pewter selection further comprises a tastevin with a pierced heart and crown handle and beaded interior bowl, and a French baluster-form pitcher by J. Cordiere retaining a paper seal.
Naval interest is represented by a heavy base-metal tankard inscribed C.P.O.S MESS HMS AURORA with an engraved ship’s crest. Silver-plated items include a presentation goblet inscribed for the C S B Luncheon Club Rev Dr S E Stephens, a flared beaker dated 1967-1997, and a contemporary footed oval bowl with heavy scrolling foliate embossing and a matching serving spoon, retaining a retail tag for Premium Quality Silver Product.
Russian Orthodox commemorative items include a cased set of five gilded teaspoons with spiral-twisted stems and foliate terminals, alongside a boxed gilded medal dated 2004 depicting the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour in Moscow and a Patriarchal figure. Additional items include a silvered metal Hamsa wall plaque with applied wire-work decoration, a spirit measure marked 1/6 Gill, a chrome-plated T-bar corkscrew, a gilt-metal embossed album with a red velvet spine and blank pages, and a Chinese hand-carved cork landscape housed in a curved glass display case.
Condition report:
The items range from fair to very good condition. The HMS Aurora tankard and the presentation beaker dated 1997 show heavy surface tarnish and patina consistent with age and service use. The modern embossed silver-plated bowl and the Russian commemorative set appear in excellent, possibly unused condition, with original packaging and tags. Pewter items display light surface scratches and minor oxidation typical of the material. The Chinese cork carving is contained within its original protective polystyrene base.
