A mid-20th century teak bureau and matching stool set, designed in the Queen Anne revival style and resembling the Windsor series of hand-carved furniture. The bureau features a fall-front lid decorated with a hand-carved floral border and recessed shell-form handles. The interior is fitted with a central small drawer and a series of pigeonholes for organisation. Both the bureau and the stool are constructed from solid teak with a honey-toned finish and are raised on slender cabriole legs terminating in pad feet. The small internal drawer bears a handwritten chalk or crayon mark reading 7. The desk is fitted with brass hinges and a metal stay bar.
Condition report:
The items appear to be in good overall condition. There are minor surface scratches and light wear to the wood finish consistent with age and previous domestic use. The hinges and stay mechanism are in functional order, and the joints remain stable.
