The obverse of the medal features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother with the inscription ELIZABETH II REGINAE MATER PRAESES, while the reverse displays an oak sprig with acorns and the repeating inscription NATIONAL TRUST. The international coins include an IE 1970 heptagonal 50 pence coin featuring a woodcock and a KE 1985 heptagonal 5 shillings coin depicting President Daniel arap Moi. The remainder of the group comprises various UK bronze and cupro-nickel coins, including pennies and halfpennies featuring the portraits of George V, George VI, and Elizabeth II, many of which display the Golden Hind reverse design. Several cupro-nickel sixpences dated between 1948 and 1958 are also present.
Condition report:
The National Trust commemorative medal is in uncirculated condition and is well-preserved within its original presentation box. The circulated coinage exhibits a range of conditions from fine to very fine. The bronze denominations show significant toning, surface marks, and environmental oxidation, while the cupro-nickel pieces display typical circulation wear and dulling of the surfaces.
