Condition report:

The vintage books are in poor to fair condition, exhibiting significant shelf wear, including frayed and torn cloth on the spines, bumping to the corners, surface losses to the paper-covered boards, and general soiling. The modern books are in good used condition with some wear to dust jackets and page edges. The Tolkien set remains in original plastic wrap. The VHS tapes are housed in original plastic cases with light exterior wear; playback quality is untested.
