This lot comprises a variety of decorative objects and household items. The collection includes a contemporary tabletop gemstone globe, featuring oceans constructed from a blue stone composite, likely lapis lazuli, with continents formed from an inlay of various multi-coloured semi-precious stones. The globe is mounted within a gold-toned metal gimbal-style tripod stand. Also included are multiple tooled leather goods, such as pouches or wallets, featuring embossed decorative motifs including an Egyptian-style figure and desert landscapes with palm trees, characteristic of mid-20th-century souvenir ware. The lot is completed by a diverse group of serving trays: a large rectangular red-lacquered tray decorated with a gilt floral design depicting chrysanthemums in an East Asian style; two carved wooden trays featuring intricate geometric and floral carvings, one of which includes small brass or white-metal rectangular inlays in a style characteristic of Anglo-Indian or Middle Eastern craftsmanship; a large, round metal tray with a dark, aged patina and heavily embossed decoration; a rectangular footed tray; and a modern rectangular tray constructed from light-coloured bamboo with integrated handles.
Condition report:
The items are in mixed condition. The gemstone globe and the modern bamboo tray appear to be in good overall condition. The tooled leather items show signs of age-related wear, including surface scuffs and softening to the leather edges. The older wooden, lacquered, and metal trays exhibit various degrees of wear consistent with age and use, including surface scratches, small chips to the lacquered finish, and a dark patina on the metal components.
