A collection of assorted thimbles comprising predominantly porcelain and ceramic souvenir examples, alongside various metal and plastic pieces. The porcelain thimbles feature a range of decorative transfer-printed motifs including birds, floral designs, and landscapes. Specific souvenir inscriptions include Pitlochry Fish Ladder, North Cove, Nessie, and Redwings Horse Sanctuary. The lot includes several silver-tone and brass-tone metal thimbles with traditional dimpled textures, and three translucent plastic thimbles in orange, green, and yellow. One thimble is contained within its original blue cardboard packaging marked Stratnoid Engraved Thimble. The collection is presented in two wooden multi-compartment wall-hanging display cases. The larger case features forty-two compartments and a red felt-lined backing, while the smaller case contains twelve compartments.
Condition report:
The collection is in generally good condition. Some ceramic examples show light rubbing to the transfer-printed decorations and gilt rims. The wooden display cases show minor surface scuffs and wear consistent with age and previous display. The cardboard Stratnoid box exhibits some edge wear and light fading.
