A framed colour print on paper after the 1881 oil painting by Lady Butler (Elizabeth Thompson). The composition depicts the charge of the Royal Scots Greys at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. The print is presented within a broad cream-coloured mount and housed in a decorative gilt-finished moulded frame under glass. Printed text on the mount below the image reads SCOTLAND FOR EVER! by Lady Butler, with a further credit line reading Courtesy of the Leeds City Art Galleries. The reverse of the frame is finished with a hardboard backing secured with brown adhesive tape and fitted with a blue nylon hanging cord.
Condition report:
The print appears to be in good condition with no visible foxing, staining, or fading. The gilt-finished frame shows minor surface scuffs and wear consistent with age, particularly at the corners. The adhesive tape on the reverse is aged and starting to lift in several places.
