A variety of rhinestone-set brooches, including a large starburst design featuring marquise and round-cut blue paste stones; a crescent-shaped spray set with clear baguette and round-cut stones; a floral spray with vibrant blue and red flower heads; and a gold-tone sunburst brooch set with amber-coloured stones.
Several enamel lapel pins for The Royal British Legion and the British Legion Women’s Section.
A large bronze-tone heraldic badge depicting the Royal Coat of Arms of the United Kingdom with the motto Dieu et mon droit.
A circular silver-tone filigree brooch with a central green cabochon surrounded by multi-coloured beads.
A silver-tone spray brooch set with turquoise-coloured beads and a silver-tone openwork brooch with the pierced lettering MIZPAH.
An oval ceramic brooch with a hand-painted floral spray and a rectangular frame brooch set with clear paste stones.
Miscellaneous items include:
A group of four long metal hatpins with spherical bead heads.
A British bronze penny depicting Queen Victoria, with the obverse inscription Victoria Dei Gra Britt Regina Fid Def.
A small clear acrylic block containing an encased pink rose.
Materials consist of base metals, enamel, porcelain, and various paste stones. Most brooches utilize traditional C-clasp or safety pin mechanisms.
Condition report:
The collection is in overall good vintage condition, consistent with age and use. There is visible tarnishing and surface oxidation to metal components, most notably on the bronze-tone heraldic badge and the reverse of some brooches. The internal silk linings of the larger case show fraying, discoloration, and minor staining. The faux-tortoiseshell case exhibits light surface scratching. Paste stones appear to be mostly present, though some show minor dulling or wear to the foil backing. Enamel on the service pins remains largely intact.
