Start price: £50

Estimated price: £50 - £100

Buyer's Premium:

A collection of sterling silver mounted vanity items including a hand mirror, an oval hair brush, a rectangular clothes brush, and a faux-tortoiseshell comb. Each piece is decorated with a high-relief repoussé motif featuring five cherub heads, known as the Reynolds Angels pattern, surrounded by scrolling foliate and floral borders. The silver mounts are hallmarked for Birmingham sterling silver, with the lion passant, anchor assay mark, and the date letter u for 1919. A maker mark for W.S is present. The oval brush features a wooden base stamped RELIANCE and MADE IN ENGLAND. The comb is fashioned from translucent amber-coloured celluloid with a silver mount. The group is accompanied by three bronze-coloured British coins, including a George V penny.

Condition report:

The silver components exhibit significant dark tarnish and oxidation across all surfaces. There are multiple small dents, compressions, and surface abrasions throughout the thin repoussé work, particularly on the handles and rims. The mirror plate shows spotting, foxing, and desilvering around the edges. The brush bristles are discoloured and show some loss of tufts. The comb is missing a portion of the frame and one tooth at the end.
