An assortment of two antique tilt-top wine tables. The first table is constructed from mahogany and features a circular solid top with a central inlaid floral marquetry medallion within a circular reserve. The top is mounted via a box-block mechanism with a brass spring-loaded catch onto a turned pedestal column. The base consists of three square-cut, out-swept legs forming a tripod. The second table features an ebonised finish and a circular top with remnants of a painted or lacquered decorative scheme, possibly chinoiserie. This table is supported by a turned pedestal stem and a tripod base with three out-swept legs. No maker marks, labels, or stamps are visible on either piece.
Condition report:
The mahogany table is in an aged condition, showing a significant circular area of blanching and finish loss to the top surrounding the central inlay. There are scattered scratches, minor indentations, and surface abrasions throughout. The tilt mechanism is functional, though the wooden block shows age-related drying and minor old repairs. The ebonised table is in poor condition and requires restoration. The painted surface of the top is heavily abraded with extensive loss of decoration and multiple large chips to the rim. The ebonised finish is worn and thinning across the piece, and one leg has a visible split and loss of timber at the foot.
