A vintage hard-sided suitcase dating from the early to mid-20th century. The body is constructed with an olive-green canvas covering and reinforced at the corners with dark brown leather protectors secured by metal rivets. The case is fitted with two spring-loaded metal latches incorporating central keyholes and a central stitched leather carry handle. The interior is lined with a pale, off-white fabric and contains two internal securing straps composed of leather and canvas, attached to the lid. The exterior faces show remnants of adhesive travel labels. A small white paper tag is attached to the handle with handwritten numerals reading 66100. No maker’s marks or brand names are visible on the interior or exterior.
Condition report:
Worn condition overall. The canvas exterior shows significant scuffing, staining, and areas of material loss. The leather handle is heavily cracked and worn. The leather corner reinforcements show abrasions and wear to the surfaces. The metal hardware exhibits oxidation and surface patina. The interior lining displays minor discolouration consistent with age and travel use.
