An assortment of decorative and utility metalware comprising various 20th-century objects in pewter, silver plate, copper, and stainless steel. The collection includes a large silver-plated kettle featuring extensive engraved scrolling foliate decoration, a curved spout with a mask terminal at the base, and a hinged lid with a finial. The pewter components include a tankard with a hammered finish and a C-scroll handle, a tall polished tankard, and a tankard with a decorative handle modelled as a stylized aquatic creature. One tankard bears a circular mark incorporating the name JOHN. A commemorative copper rum measure of conical form features an applied brass or bronze emblem for HMS Ark Royal. Additional holloware includes a silver-plated chalice-form goblet on a circular pedestal base, a tall coffee or water pot with a wicker-covered handle, a slender trophy-form vessel with a circular enamel badge in red, white, and blue, and a small silver-coloured cup with an enamel heraldic crest. The lot further comprises an assortment of loose silver-plated and stainless steel flatware, including spoons, forks, a pair of nutcrackers, and two small fluted salt cellars. A decorative knife with an ornate cast handle is presented in its original grey card box.
Condition report:
Items exhibit varying degrees of surface wear consistent with age and use. Significant tarnish and oxidation are present on the silver-plated holloware, particularly the ornate kettle and the goblet. The copper measure shows surface oxidation and typical patination. General scratching and small dents are visible across the collection. One item has a modern adhesive inventory label attached to the body.
