A collection of approximately ten hand-painted ceramic figurines from the Royal Doulton Old Bear and Friends series, based on the illustrations of British author Jane Hissey. The collection features various characters from the books, including Old Bear, Little Bear, Rabbit, Duck, Bramwell Brown, and Ruff the dog, depicted in various story-themed poses. The figurines are crafted with a matte finish and specific texturing designed to replicate the appearance of well-loved plush toys, fur, and knitted fabrics. Each piece features the Royal Doulton factory backstamp on the base, including the lion atop a crown logo. Specific models identified in the group include OB1, OB4 Don’t Worry, Rabbit (1997), OB5 The Long Red Scarf (1997), OB8 Welcome Home Old Bear (1997), OB9 Ruff’s Prize (1997), OB10, OB11 Don’t Forget Old Bear (1998), OB15 Too Much Food (1998), and OB4616 Nest of Socks (1999). Several figurines retain their original Royal Doulton paper tags.
Condition report:
The collection is in generally good condition with vibrant colours. A significant condition issue is noted on The Long Red Scarf (OB5) figurine, which has a large chip to the front edge of the red ceramic blanket, exposing the white body underneath. The other ten figurines appear free of visible cracks or major chips. Minor shelf wear and surface marks are present to the bases of several pieces.
